itty bitty shoezies, roses, cupcakes, and more photos!

I mentioned that I'd show you guys some of my O.G. Flea goodies... here they are! I really didn't have much funny money to throw around, so it was tiny treasures for us. I adore itty bitty shoezies! And these lil pink ones made my eyes pop when I spied them. The lil navy ones and their snaps are adorbs too! The lil pink teabag holder is the perfect companion to an aqua one I scored years ago. Vintage rose postcards are always on my list! And some tiny instant relatives! Oh oh..and a crate full of old wooden blocks. You know those primary colored, rounded edged painted wood blocks from the late 70s early 80s? Pretty sure they were by Playskool. Well yes..those! I have some fun ideas for them! :)

Another one of a kind cupcakes sign...listed it last night...sold within minutes once again to a favorite collector of ours. Very happy to be sending it off to it's happy new home. Thanks so much for all of the emails about signs! It seems you guys like wood...and I totally get it...it shows up at your house and it is 100% ready to go. So, Yes yes! Lots more to come!! We will have another similar to this tomorrow...black lettering...pink and aqua and antique cream scallops :) I'm diggin' it! It's really right at home in our kitchen. I always need some black. Things feel "right" for me once I have a bit of black. The sign is totally done but I need daylight for a proper photo.

Didn't get a chance to check in here yesterday. Those of you following along on flickr may have seen yesterday's challenge already ....if not:

From a high angle:
standing on the bed looking down at the little. This pic not only captures the requirementsof the assignment but it also give you a glimpse into a sight I see all day long...A sight I LOVE to see all day long. This guy will pose for pics all day long. If you are beginning to think we are photographically neglecting our old buddy Carlos for the new cute guy...it's not what you think. Carlos just so happens to be spazzy and as soon as a camera appears he get's skittish, nervous, fidgety, and becomes just about the least photogenic creature this side of Sasquatch and Nessy.

and for today...We took a cruise into Asbury. I know I'm starting to repeat an Asbury theme but there are just so many great photo ops there...plus, it's take about zero gas money to get there. I know that the Stone Pony has been photographed so many times that it soon may turn into a photograph and not an actually brick & mortar structure. (Aar told me some literary reference that is similar to what I just said...something from Don Delillo's "White Noise"...but he bombards me with so much literary effluvium that it goes in one ear and comes out in a cupcake painting or something...though I appreciate his interest and passion...but he's preaching to a gal with a very short attention span...no time for thousands of pages about the modern human condition in a commercialized overeducated America...sorry if I lost you there...pink bunnies, pink bunnies, pink bunnies...erase the intellectual mumbo jumbo!

Day 6: From a low angle.
The world famous Stony Pony in Asbury Park.

The weather has been perfection...windows open..cool breezes and sun shine! Jersey is good at times. And we stop to appreciate the free gifts offered by big momma nature!! We are working away. Will be back tomorrow with a new sign or two and another photo assignment! :)

Ask Casey...

Dear Casey,

Q. I lick my paws way too much and it is driving my mom crazy! She has tried oregano oil but it is really expensive and is stinking up the house and my feet are smelly from licking them so much. Do you have any suggestions??? Thanks, Robbie Burns, West Highland White Terrier, Extraordinaire.

A. Excessive paw licking, biting, and/or constant scratching is often a sign of food allergies. Sometimes pets develop allergies toward their diet. Paw biting, excessive licking, ear scratching and belly licking can all be signs that their diets are starting to aggravate them.

Various meat proteins, food preservatives, and additives or fillers when ingested may cause itchy skin disease or intestinal disease in domestic animals. This is an acquired allergic reaction and often a dog may have been eating the same food for months or years before any problems arise.
There is currently no accurate blood or skin test to tell if your dog has food allergies. The only method is by avoidance and challenge -- a process of elimination.

To determine if your dog may have a food allergy, you can try putting them on a carefully selected hypoallergenic diet. Studies have shown that, in most cases, the allergen can be diagnosed after your pooch has been placed on a selected diet for 8-10 weeks.

Have a chat with your vet about food allergies and change your pooches’ diet. Find a different protein source (beef & chicken are often the main culprits) that your pet has not be exposed to before. It may be the key to ridding him of itchy toes and feet!

Good luck.

Dear Casey,

Q. We recently noticed that our dog, a neutered male, isn’t just sniffing in the grass, but that he licks other dogs’ pee. He doesn’t see where the dog went to the bathroom, but he can smell it and goes straight to it. He will lick the grass and then foam at the mouth a little bit, or his tongue will poke out and his lips will quiver. Once he’s on the trail there’s no stopping him. Is this really gross? Why does he do this and how can we get him to stop?

A. When a dog licks another dog’s urine, they are using an organ in the roof of their mouth that allows them to not only smell the scent, but to also taste it.

It helps them to analyze the scent in a more in-depth way. They are then able to tell whether the urine is male or female and even if the dog is in season or not. Your dog can determine if it is a young or old dog and even tell if the urine is coming from one of his friends. Your precious pooch drools or foams, and chatters his mouth to help him “waffle” the scent around in order to better identify the depositor of this pee!

While most humans view this as disgusting behavior, and thankfully don’t posses this unique trait, urine itself is sterile and therefore not really harmful to a dog, so don’t panic! Your kidlet is only doing something that comes totally naturally to him: checking out his environment the best way he knows. While it may seem totally gross to humans, a dog’s sense of smell is thousands of times more sensitive than humans, and all your dog wants to do is sniff out his world and locate where his friends are hanging out! Stop panicking and go with the flow.

All White Beach House

I love all white interiors and the play on light it creates. I am a huge enthusiast of Scandinavian design and love their typical colour palette of white, grey and beige that always looks so crisp and clean. It's so perfectly suited to beach house decorating with the colours being reminiscent of seafoam, shells, driftwood and sand. Fabrics used are typically linen and cotton mixed with white washed timbers, limed floors, cane, rattan and vintage pieces. Scandinavian summer houses are always full of character and soul.

A Beach Cottage

This 1940's Venice Beach bungalow belongs to a television costume designer. It has been simply renovated with buckets of white paint, splashes of vivid colour and treasures collected on the owners' travels. It is decorated in a relaxed, casual style allowing the owners to entertain spontaneously whenever guests happen to pop by. The bright white furnishings contrast warmly against dark oak floors that have a worn patina from all the sand tracked in. Turquoise green is the owner's favorite accent color and "is a way to bring the beach inside". The house is full of quirky vintage finds that give the place a feeling of warmth and personality.

Beach House in Neutral Tones

I loved decorating beach houses with lots of white teamed back with soft neutrals and earthy textures. I think it's a colour palette that helps bring the outside in. These earthy tones remind me of sand, pebbles, driftwood washed up on the beach, weathered decks and paling fences. Greys, beige and taupe make for soft and harmonious accent colours. They blend rather than highlight creating a calming affect. Throw shells, beach pebbles, coral and driftwood accessories into the mix and you're bound to feel like you're on holiday!
