Friday Favorites

It's Friday again! Time flies when you're busy I guess. We've been working away in the new studio and I swear...what a difference it makes when you have your own little zen spot for making art. Aaron calls it his Clean, Well-Lighted Place...after the Hemingway story of course.
So yes, speaking of the new studio...I can't thank you guys enough for all the compliments! The pos feedback really means so much to us. We put a good deal of heart into it and getting a great response from our peers feels really good. Can't wait to create more and more art in our fab new space!

Ok...now for the Friday Favorites...starting with the above...

I could totally live with this fabulous piece by Rupart BlanchardIt's part of a collection made with old packing crates. There are super fab tables and chairs as well...go see!

This LENA star lamp is entirely handmade out of reclaimed wood. I'm loving the juxtaposition of the natural wood with the glitzy movie star lights. And this star and their other products are made using eco-friendly processes.

This bag...excuse me... Satchel, is just fabulous! I think I'd feel as if I have assignments due if I wore it.  And I do have assignments due...plenty...so I guess I'm worthy. And of course it reminds me of...

Madeleines! Oh my goodness gracious. Have you ever tasted a fresh, warm, buttery and sweet, homemade madeleine? If not, then you've got some good times ahead of you!
And there are so so many variations of this classic. I purchased a madeleine pan a little over ten years ago and was crazy for them for a while. You know, typical Jenny...getting up during a commercial break and ending up in the kitchen buttering the pan, and gathering ingredients. I even made some rosewater madeleines once. I remember that when I was deep in my madeleine kick we went to see the movie The Transporter...and the chick who he had in the trunk of the car baked him a a batch of them for breakfast...I got a kick out of that.
After a while I think my habit moved on to baby bundts and mini cakes, but this book looks amaaazing and I think I'll be digging out my pan for a bit of sweet reminiscing.

This piece by Artist Jenny Elkins is just fantastic! As are all of her works of art. If you aren't familiar with her art prepare to be absolutely dazzled when you click through her collections. I love so so much about her work...and she does so much of it! Down right spoils us with her creativity. You can find links to her two Etsy shops right in my sidebar!

And lastly is this awesome video of the great Ed Hardy painting in his studio. A rare up-close glimpse of a legend at work. Watching his fluid brush strokes and the way he pretty much attacks the canvas is so inspiring. There's a palpable confidence that comes across in his process. It's not often that the subject matter in a painting is so enmeshed within the spirit in which it was rendered.
And I'm so proud to say that this video was made by a very close friend of ours...Michael Evans. He spent an afternoon in the studio with Mr. Hardy and caught a bit of his lightning in a bottle. Mike's camera work and editing skills are Amazing...and I think his being an obsessive artist in his own right enables him to capture what the untrained eye would never see.

Ok, hope you loved my Friday Faves! Have a fab weekend!

Birthday Wish List

Happy Birthday to me!

It's my birthday today
and I must admit I'm pretty excited!
A simple day is planned ~
an afternoon tea at the new house
(admist the rubble and paint cans!)
Then a lazy afternoon on the beach,
followed by a romantic dinner
at a new seafood restaurant on the water.

.... just perfect!
