How we spent our Sunday

Posted by om 0 comments

Although it turned out to be a warm day, the morning was chilly and some very hot coffee was needed to get us kickstarted after a late night in the studio. The second the coffee was brewed the sun took it's cue and brought some of it's glowing warmth to the kitchen. With our Atlanta trip approaching, (this Thursday!), now is the time for last minute running around and organizing. Packing for any trip can be stressful, but when you are packing supplies and kits for classes...making sure each kit contains every single element, the stress level multiplies. On top of that we're making sure to complete any open orders and get them shipped before we leave. This is our last chance to tie up loose ends...and the key to not getting frazzled is CHECKLISTS...lots and lots of checklists. They work wonders. Everything is right there in front of you and there aren't any scary unknowns.

The calm before the storm. This is my view every morning. Me and Aaron are stationed at each end of the couch...Carlos is between us...and lil Jack gets his own chair across the room. I swear this photo could be used as a stock photo for what my morning looks like 365 days of the year. Before attacking the day we ride the couch for about 45 minutes...checking emails, facebook, looking over orders we may have gotten over night, printing invoices, checking the weather for the day ahead, etc...

We then hit the studio right away to put together the finishing details of our kits. Here you see Aaron gluing up a set of the tabs used to separate the scrapbook in to sections. Cakes, Cookies, Pies and Desserts!

And here are some of the originals laid out on the floor. We do this often...to take it all in and see if there is anything we'd add or change.

And here you have some of the finished pages. We did little paintings for each section of the scrapbook. Our favorite is the pie! We had so much fun designing this class kit. We really hope the ladies enjoy putting it together. It really is a sturdy useable book, perfect for keeping favorite recipes! We plan on making some more kits to add to the shop once we return from Atlanta, and a portion of sales will go to Operation Stars & Stripes as well. So if you couldn't make it to Sweethearts on the Homefront, you can still get crafty with us in the comfort of your own home, and still donate to an awesome organization.

Bags and bags of glitter. I posted this pic on facebook and some folks had a chuckle. I guess you could call me your friendly neighborhood glitter dealer. ;)

Call me a weirdo, but I truly enjoy bagging up all the elements for kits. I'll be cutting lots of ribbon tonight, and double checking quantities of everything. Tomorrow we have to go to the printshop to pick up collage sheets for the kits, and then we hope to be sealing all the kits up by tomorrow night.

We paused our work day to make one of our favorite soups. It was a perfect day for it. It was really delicious. We'll be blogging the recipe very soon. It feels like a long day already but we still have a few things to do tonight before settling down to watch The Walking Dead.

We hope that you had a great weekend! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
Thanks so much for popping in!

Most of my design work is large scale, ultra modern, architectural beach houses.
I rarely showcase this kind of style on my blog.
But here is one that caught my eye ~
maybe it's the perfect tropical location and that stunning view.
I like the minimal fuss-free interior, the simple colour palette
and the lovely use of timber to give it warmth.
