New Year's Pool Party

Here's some gorgeous inspiration for a New Year's Party - I would love to do something like this, only problem is I don't have a pool! But I could work my way round that little hiccup ... somehow! I love the sophisticated black and white colour palette and the chic styling. The layered cheeses makes a fabulous substitute for a cake particularly as we are all huge cheese fans in this house! I love the stamped icy pole sticks, the mini jars and all the clever styling tricks! My next party is sure to incorporate a few of this ideas.

Kangaroo Island

Every year my husband and I go on a road trip, just the two of us - no kids. This year we are heading off on great adventure to Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Only accessible by ferry it is a remote wilderness with pristine beaches, rugged scenery, abundant wildlife and beautiful National Parks. It also boasts a luxury 5 star resort called 'Southern Ocean Lodge' but at $2000 a night for the most basic room I sadly won't be staying there. You'll find me at the campground further down the road! However I will take a fabulous dress and heels so that one summery evening we can dine at their stunning restaurant and I can check out the finishes and furniture of this very stylish eco resort.

Life's A Beach!

Lazy days are being spent at the beach, swatting flies, slurping ice-creams, flying kites, bumping into friends, swimming, boogie boarding, walking in the shallows, flicking through mags, feeding leftover chips to the seagulls and rubbing sunscreen into happy, suntanned kids ... just perfect!

Summer Road Trip

I am just in the the throws of planning this year's road trip. I have always loved a summer road trip and these fun shots reminds me of my crazy, younger days heading up to Byron Bay with my girlfriends to celebrate New Year's Eve. I still love my road trips but the girls have been replaced by my husband so the trips are more romantic and low key - watching sunsets, seafood dinners, bushwalking, exploring, and relaxed beach days. Now I wake up at the time I used to get home!

Surfboard Cool

I can particularly relate to this post as my house is decorated with three vintage surfboards. Naturally, this was not my decorating choice as there is nothing 'shabby chic' about a surfboard but with my husband came 2 little kids and 3 vintage boards and that was the package - so the boards were hung and I become an instant mother! All of us have co-habitated very nicely for the past 8 years and the surfboards sit happily, pride of place, on our walls giving our house a rustic 'surfie' feel that makes my husband feel right at home!

Destination Beach

Today is the day where there is a mass exodus from the city to the beach. With Christmas over and done with and a day to recover everyone heads to the coast. The campgrounds are full, the beaches are packed, sleepy coastal towns like mine are buzzing with activity and everyone is on holiday having fun in the sun!. Whatever you're up to I hope you are enjoying the Christmas break!
