Seaside Style on a Budget

Slip Covered Furniture

Rather than getting rid of a shabby looking, worn out sofa give it a new lease of life with a slipcover in a linen or cotton fabric. Beige, white and taupe are all great colours for beachside living. A slipcover and some new scatter cushions in a mix of colours, textures and patterns will cost you a fraction of the cost of a new sofa.

Create your own collections

Instead of using expensive and impersonal store bought decor accessories - dress up bookshelves, hall stands and coffee tables with collections you have put together yourself.  Humble collectibles — such as glass bottle, screw top jars, seashells and objects found in nature make for a more interesting and personal display.

Secondhand Books

books on shelf

Vintage sailing guides and classic adventure stories found at flea markets and secondhand-book shops provide the ultimate escape on a summer afternoon and make for great collections on bookshelves - particularly when colour blocked.

Recycled Furniture

For a fraction of the cost of new furniture - revamp an existing piece or shop around for a bargain from a second hand shop, garage sale or flea market. Sand it back, give it a coat of paint with a distressed finish, update the handles, reupholster and you'll have a treasured piece that is unique, tells a story and has plenty of character!
